West Coast Players will present the comedy/drama, Love, Loss and What I Wore by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, July 14-16, 2019. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm. The show is directed by Dan Kelley. The cast includes: Colleen Coughenor, Janice Creneti, Kim Florio, Trish Keating, and Kristen Rowell.
Love, Loss and What I Wore portrays women’s relationships and wardrobes and at times the interaction of the two, using the female wardrobe as a time capsule of a woman’s life. It is a play of monologues and ensemble pieces about women, clothes and memory covering all the important subjects – mothers, prom dresses, mothers, buying bras, mothers, hating purses and why women only wear black.
Charles Isherwood of The New York Times noted that this serves a female audience. “If there are chick flicks and chick lit – derogatory though some might find those terms to be – Love, Loss, and What I Wore should clearly be classified as chick legit…for the women who can share deeply in the particulars of experience dissected and discussed.” In Variety, Marilyn Stasio called it “a bittersweet meditation on the joys and tribulations of women’s lives, reflected through the prism of their clothes.”
This play is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
Note: Love, Loss and What I Wore contains strong language and adult themes.
